Stone Courtyard: Stories Carved in Stone
View photograph ↗
A courtyard brings architecture into conversation with light. Arches frame one another, while the open space gives the eye somewhere to rest. Stone becomes more than a wall or a column: it becomes a rhythm of shade, texture and proportion.
The smallest details reward a slower look. A softened edge, a repeating carving and the uneven colour of a surface can be as compelling as the scale of the building. They invite questions without supplying easy answers.
Photographing heritage begins with that attention. A picture can draw us closer to a place, while its documented history gives us the context that appearance alone cannot provide.
